What is the best Fit Together class for me and my new baby?

At Fit Together we strive to provide approachable and social fitness programs from pregnancy into new parenthood, until your baby or tot is about 24 months (or even older if your tot is willing). Some new parents start as soon as 5 or 6 weeks postpartum and others join along the way as they are ready.

The idea is you can bring your baby to our classes no matter her mood or temperament. We provide a friendly atmosphere where you can feed, cuddle and change baby at any point during class. Sometimes you will incorporate them into the exercises. As babies attend more regularly, they get used to the atmosphere and enjoy it more and more (and make new baby friends). Meanwhile the parents build confidence and improve their fitness and health.

A question we get a lot is what “class should I start with?”

If you are just easing back into fitness after having your baby, it’s best to look for a class that is low impact, baby friendly and that includes pelvic floor exercise. Our instructors are all pre/postnatal fitness specialists trained to modify for common “new mom” concerns such as pelvic floor recovery, abdominal separation, wrist pain, posture and more. We also love babies and plan our classes to keep them as happy as possible, while you get in as much exercise as you can each time.

If you are looking to get back into fitness this season, here are the best classes to start with:

Parent & Baby Pilatesfull body workout focusing on pelvic floor and core activation, strength, posture, stretching PLUS baby rhymes.

Postnatal Yoga + Infant Massagea gentle class to focus on mindfulness, strength and stretching and learning soothing baby massage techniques

Stroller Fitness – mobile outdoor class with cardio, strength, core and stretch PLUS baby rhymes

Looking ahead to November, we’ll also offer additional options:

Postnatal Core Restore- reconnect to your core with this progressive class that focuses on research based pelvic floor exercises and core engagement during fitness activities.

Parent & Baby Fitnessfull body workout with cardio, strength, core and stretch PLUS baby rhymes

Parent & Baby Barreupbeat full body workout set to music, with strength, core and stretch PLUS fun baby rhymes.

Indoor Stroller Fitnessmobile outdoor class with cardio, strength, core and stretch PLUS baby rhymes

Once you have gotten back into fitness, are exercising several times a week with no pelvic floor or joint issues, and your baby is about 16 weeks old, you might choose to ramp it up with our Parent & Baby Bootcamp:

Parent & Baby Bootcamp – an intermediate to advanced class with cardio, agility, power, strength, core and stretch PLUS baby rhymes

  • Tuesday/Thursday 11:15 AM at Linde Woods CC

All of classes are very welcoming and accommodating and a great way to spend some time with your baby and other families, so it’s just a matter of taste, location and time-slot after that.
